The Bangladesh government recorded 775 new COVID-19 cases and six deaths in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total infections stood at 15,87,915 and fatalities rose to 28,087, a health directorate press release said on Tuesday.
As many as 19,740 samples were collected, and 19,838 tested in the past day.
During the period, 185 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,49,956.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 293,078,911 people and killed 5,467,761 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 255,480,149 across the world.
