352 new Covid cases, 1 death in 24 hrs

The Bangladesh government recorded 352 new COVID-19 cases and one death in the last 24 hours. 

With this, the total infections stood at 15,81,986 and fatalities rose to 28,052, a health directorate press release said on Wednesday.

As many as 18,938 samples were collected, and 18,779 tested in the past day.

During the period, 281 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,46,352.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 276,707,692 people and killed 5,388,419 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 248,241,647 across the world.
