2 killed as bus hits auto-rickshaw in Banasree

Two people were killed and two others injured when a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in front of the Famous Hospital in the capital’s Banasree on Sunday. 

The incident took place around 11am.

The deceased were identified as the auto-rickshaw driver Md Swapon, 32, and its passenger Fatema Begum, 40.

The injured passengers of the auto-rickshaw are Sakib, 17 and Shakil, 8, both sons of Fatema.  

According to the source, the four people were injured in the incident and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared two of them dead around 12pm. The injured people received primary medical treatment from there.

Arif Hossen, an ambulance driver, who took the victims to DMCH, told Jago News that a bus of Achim Paribahan hit the auto-rickshaw in front of the Famous Hospital in Banasree, leaving four people injured. Later, the four were sent to DMCH where the on-duty doctors declared two of them. 

However, being informed, Swapan’s relatives came to the DMCH and identified him. They said, he was the son of late Md Shahid of Gongapur village at Borhanuddin thana in Bhola. He lived in Ibrahimpur in the capital’s Kafrul. 

In this connection, Md Bachchu Miah, Inspector of the DMCH camp, said the bodies were kept at DMCH morgue for autopsies.
