The country is going to enter the 5G technology regime on Sunday.
Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy is expected to launch the service virtually at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) at 7pm, reports BSS.
State-owned mobile phone operator Teletalk will roll out a 5G trial run in some parts of the country to mark the 'Digital Bangladesh Day'.
Teletalk already got 60 Megahertz (MHz) 3.5 GHz band spectrum to roll out its 5G services on a trial basis.
Initially the 5G network services will be available in a few publicly important places such as Bangabhaban, Ganabhaban, Sangsad Bhaban, Prime Minister's Office, Bangladesh Secretariat and Dhanmondi 32.
It will also be available in Tungipara of Gopalganj and Shaheed Minar in the capital.
The service will be expanded further soon after the arrival of the required machinery to run the operation countrywide.
