BCL leader murder: 9 to die, 22 get life term

A court has sentenced nine people to death and twenty-two others to life-term imprisonment in a case filed over the murder of former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Shahen Shah Shahin in Rajshahi. 

Rajshahi Metropolitan Session Judge H M Ilias Hossen passed the order at 12:40pm on Thursday.

Ekramul Haque, lawyer of the plaintiff, confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

Shahin Shah, former general secretary of Rajshahi Court College unit of BCL, was killed by his opponent on 28 August in 2013.

On August 29, Shahin’s brother Juba League leader Nahid Akter filed a murder case with Rajpara Police Station. 

Later, Moniruzzaman, the investigation officer of the case and Sub Inspector of the police station, submitted the charge sheet against 31 people including then Rajshahi City Corporation 1 No. ward councilor Munsur Rahman.
