SC upholds Aman’s bail

The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a bail to BNP joint secretary general Amanullah Aman by the High Court in violence cases filed with different police stations in the capital.A four-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, passed the order disposing of a petition filed by the state against the HC bail order.Ealier, on August 31, 2015, the High Court bench comprising by Justice KM Abdul Hakim and Justice Ashish Ranjon Das granted six month’s interterm bail to Aman in several cases filed for obstructing police from discharging their duties, arson attacks on vehicles and vandalism during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s blockade and hartal programme.On February 11, detectives picked MA Mannan up from his DOHS residence in Baridhara of the capital in connection with a petrol bomb attack in a bus in Gazipur on February 4.Six cases were filed against the BNP leader with Joydevpur, Kaliakoir and Sreepur police stations on various charges.
