Noted writer Hasan Azizul Haque dies

Noted writer Hasan Azizul Haque passed away at his residence in Rajshahi city on Monday night. He was 83.

He breathed his last around 9:15 pm at his Bishwabidyaloy Housing Society residence.

He left behind one son, one daughter and a large number of students, academic colleagues, relatives and admirers to mourn his death, reports BSS.

He was suffering from various old age complications, including heart, lungs infection and electrolyte imbalance, RU sources said.

Born in Job village in Burdwan district on February 2, 1939, Prof Hassan obtained his M. A. degree in Philosophy from Rajshahi University in 1960. He joined Rajshahi University in 1973 and went to retirement in 2004.

Meanwhile, Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, RU Vice-chancellor Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar and Pro-VCs Prof Chowdhury Jakaria and Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam expressed their deep shock and sorrow at the death of Prof Hassan Azizul Haque.

They also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
