A court in Dhaka on Sunday fixed November 28 to deliver its verdict in the sensational murder case of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology student Abrar Fahad.
Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 Judge Abu Zafar Md Kamruzzaman set the date after the prosecution and defence had concluded their respective arguments in the lawsuit.
Earlier on October 24, Chief prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kazal in his closing arguments pleaded to sentence all 25 accused, including three fugitives, in the case.
The arrested 22 accused are Mehidy Hasan Russel, Md Anik Sarker, Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, Md Mehidy Hasan Robin, Meftahul Islam Zeon, Muntasir Alam Jemmy, Khandaker Tabakhkharul Islam Tanveer, Muzahidur Rahman, Muhtasim Fuad, Moniruzzaman Monir, Akash Hossain, Hossain Mohammad Toha, Mazedur Rahman, Shameem Billah, Moaz Abu Hurayra, ASM Nazmus Sadat, Ishtiaq Ahmed Munna, Amit Saha, Mizanur Rahman alias Mizan, Shamsul Arefin Rafat, Morshed Amatya Islam, and SM Mahmud Setu.
The fugitive accused are Morsheduzzaman Zisan, Ehteshamul Rabbi Tanim, and Mostaba Rafid.
Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department and a resident of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET, was mercilessly beaten to death allegedly by the leaders and activists of the university unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at the night of October 6, 2019, over a Facebook post where he criticized some deals between Bangladesh and India.
Later, Abrar's father Barkat Ullah lodged a case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19 BUET students in this connection.
