Three of a family among 5 killed in Kurigram road accidents

Five people, including three members of a family, have been killed and another has been injured in two separate road accidents in Nageshwari and Rajarhat upazilas of Kurigram district.

The deceased were auto-rickshaw driver Jalil Sarker, son of late Samuddi Sheikh, a resident of West Sapkhaoa area, Shahidul Islam of the same year, his daughter Sumaiya and mother Sufia Begum, and Siraj Ali of Mahidhar Amin Bazar area in the upazila.

Police and locals said a bus of 'Rizvi Paribahan' rammed into an auto-rickshaw in Tepoti area of Raiganj Alep in Nageshwari upazila around 7:30 pm on Thursday, leaving two dead on the spot, and three injured.

The injured were first taken to Nageshwari Upazila Health Complex and later, referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital but two out of three died on the way.

Nageshwari Police Station officer in-charge Nabiul Hasan said the bodies were sent to hospital morgue and the driver of the bus was detained.

Meanwhile, a van puller was killed as a truck hit the vehicle in Amin Bazar area in Rajarhat upazila on Friday morning.

He was identified as Siraj Ali, 60, said Rajarhat Police Station officer in-charge Razu Sarker.
