Five people were killed as a shoe factory at Swarighat in the capital caught a massive fire early Friday.
Identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
The sources in Fire Service and Civil Defence said the fire broke out around 1:15 am.
Later, eight firefighting units doused the blaze in a two hours' frantic efforts.
But origin of the fire, and amount of losses could not be known immediately.
Fire Service and Civil Defence duty officer Rashed Khan told Jago News that they, so far, recovered four bodies in the fire.
