Zero fatality recorded in RMCH Covid-19 unit

Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) recorded zero fatality in its Covid-19 unit in the last 24 hours till 6am today after a long time since the second wave of the pandemic hit the country around seven months back, reports BSS. 

"We have counted many deaths in the unit during the last six to seven months but in the last 24 hours for the first time the fatality figure was zero," said RMCH Director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdany, while talking to journalists this morning.

However, the previous day's fatality figure was three, taking the death toll to 85, so far, this month.

Earlier, the number of casualties was 167 in September, 340 in August, 566 in July and 405 in June, health officials said.

Eight new patients were admitted to the designated Covid-19 wards of the hospital in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of admitted patients to 54.

Eight other patients returned home from the RMCH Covid-19 unit after being cured during the time.

Meanwhile, one more people was diagnosed with Covid-19 after testing 191 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Sunday, showing a 0.54 percent positivity rate against 2.78 percent on Saturday.
