Attacks on cops: 3 cases filed accusing over 4000

Three cases were filed against 4,040 unidentified people over Friday’s attacks on police members at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and its adjacent areas in the capital. 

The cases were filed with Palton, Ramna and Chawkbazar police stations on Saturday.  

Md Faruq Hossen, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Department) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

He said, a case was filed with Paltan Police Station against 2,500 unnamed people and six people were arrested so far in the case. Another case was filed with Ramna Police Station against 1,500 people and ten people were arrested. Apart from, a case was filed with Chawkbazar Police Station against 40 unidentified people and five of them were arrested. 

On Friday, some people brought out a procession from Baitul Mukarram mosque after Jumma prayer. Police obstructed the people when their procession reached at Nightingale intersection. A chase and counter-chase occurred during this time. The people hurled brickbats at police members and later they locked into a clash. Nine people including five policemen were injured and police detained seventeen people from the spot.
