Jurgen Klinsmann in talks over England manager’s job

Jurgen Klinsmann has held discussions with the Football Association over the England managerial vacancy, according to Germany’s general manager Oliver Bierhoff.Klinsmann, the former Tottenham striker, is  heavily backed by bookmakers to replace Roy Hodgson and lead the England rebuilding job after the Euro 2016 flop, and Bierhoff has indicated that the 51-year-old coach of the United States team has already been contacted by the FA, and believes he would be ‘a good fit’.‘I think he is in discussion with England,’ said Bierhoff, who played alongside Klinsmann in the Germany side at Euro ‘96. ‘He also gave the German national team a certain pride, atmosphere and organisation.‘The success of the German story is the high quality but also the good organisation and good atmosphere we have in the group.‘He would be a good fit for England. We started in 2004 together and he’s not always, how can I say... nice to handle because he wants to change.‘But he brings motivation, he has the courage to make difficult decisions and perhaps you need something like this.’The FA is determined to get the right man and Gary Lineker, Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand are the among the former internationals the FA has spoken to along with figures such as Harry Redknapp. The FA wants a forceful and tactically-aware manager capable of building a clear team identity over the long term - traits which Klinsmann has demonstrated since taking charge of the American side.In addition, the governing body is keen that the link-up between development teams and the senior squad is brought closer.
