RMCH records 6 more deaths at Covid-19 unit

Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) recorded six more fatalities at its Covid-19 unit in the last 24 hours till 6am today, raising the death toll to 162 so far this month, reports BSS. 

However, the previous day's fatality figure was four, while on Thursday last the death figure was just one which was the ever-lowest in the hospital since the second wave of the pandemic hit the country around six months back.

Earlier, the number of casualties was 340 in August, 566 in July and 405 in June, health officials said.

RMCH Director Brigadier General Dr Shamim Yazdani told newsmen that the five of the deceased were the residents of Rajshahi, while another from Bogura.

Among the new fatalities, one tested positive for Covid-19, while five others were suffering from its symptoms.

Fifteen more patients were admitted to the designated Covid-19 wards of the hospital in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of admitted patients to 111.

Fourteen other patients returned home from the RMCH Covid-19 unit after being cured during the time.

Meanwhile, 13 more people were diagnosed with Covid-19 positive after testing 229 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Monday, showing 5.68 percent positivity rate that was 2.29 percent on Sunday.
