India’s most successful captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is celebrating his 35th birthday on Thursday.On being made captain, MSD led an young Indian side to victory in the inaugural World T20 championship in 2007.After that in 2011, he played a match-winning knock and ensured Indian victory in the World Cup. Added to this, he also led India to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.Dhoni holds numerous captaincy records such as most wins by an Indian captain in Tests and ODIs, and most back-to-back wins by an Indian captain in ODIs.Out of 60 Tests, Dhoni led India to victory in 27 matches. In 191 ODIs, MSD won 104 matches and in T20Is, he emulated Ricky Ponting record and has won 36 matches out of 63.It was under his captaincy that India climbed to No. 1 in the ICC Test Rankings in December 2009. After that he managed to lead India in a series-leveling world championship of Tests against the South Africans in February 2010. India also managed to draw the Test series 1–1 in South Africa later that year.The first non-Australian captain to win 100 ODI matches, and first Indian captain to achieve the mark. He is also the third captain to win 100 matches, after two Australians, Ricky Ponting, and Allan Border.In 90 Tests, he has scored 4876 runs with 224 being his highest at an average of 38.09.In 278 ODIs, he has scored 8918 runs at an average of 51.25. His highest is 183 not out.Mahi has not scored a single half-century in his 71 T20Is, a surprise indeed. He has scored 1069 runs with 48 being his highest.
