A court in Pabna sentenced two young men to life in prison for killing a youth as he gave a love and marriage proposal to a schoolgirl in 2008.
The district and sessions judge court's judge Ahsan Tarek handed down the verdict.
The lifers are Zahurul, 37, a resident of Bajranath village, and Azad Hossain, 32, of Bolrampur colony in Sadar upazila of the district.
Public prosecutor Dewan Maznul Haque said Zahurul and Azad hacked and strangulated physically challenged Selim Bishwas, 25, son of Azhar Ali, a resident of Bajranath colony, to death on June 2, 2008, as he had given a love and marriage proposal to Zahurul's sister.
On the following day, police recovered the body from a banana orchard beside their home.
On June 4, the victim's father lodged a case against unidentified men in this connection.
