A Dhaka court on Sunday rejected the bail plea of film producer Nazrul Islam Raj and ordered to send him to jail in a case filed under the Pornography Control Act.
Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakr Siddique passed the order after his lawyer filed the bail prayer.
On the day, police also sought a three-day remand but the court turned down the plea.
Earlier on August 18, police produced him before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan after completion of a four-day remand, seeking an order to confine him in jail until the case investigation ends while his lawyer filed a bail petition.
After hearing both parties, the court rejected bail prayer and ordered to send him to jail.
On August 13, the producer was produced before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondal after the end of a two-phase remand in a drug case and sought to keep him held in jail until completion of the investigation while his lawyer prayed bail.

On August 10, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas granted police to interrogate him for two, and four days in two separate drug cases, and pornography respectively.
On August 5, he was remanded for four days by the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid in the cases.
Earlier on August 4, the Rapid Action Battalion in a drive detained Raj from his Banani home in the capital, hours after the elite force raided the residence of Dhallywood actress Pori Monu at Banani and nabbed her.
On the following day, two separate cases were filed against the duo under the Narcotics Control Act.
Besides, a case was lodged against Raj with Banani Police Station under the Pornography Control Act.
