Six more people died at the Covid-19 unit of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) during the last 24 hours till 6am today, taking the death toll to 302 so far this month, reports BSS.
However, the fatality figure is the ever-lowest in the last four months.
Earlier, the death toll due to the lethal virus was 566 in July and 405 in June, health officials said.
RMCH Director Brigadier General Dr Shamim Yazdani told newsmen that among the fresh six deceased, four were female and two were male.
One of the deceased was a resident of Rajshahi, two from Chapainawabganj and Natore and one from Naogaon districts, he said.
"Among the deaths, four tested positive for Covid-19, one had its symptoms and another had post-Covid-19 complexities," he said.
Fourteen more patients were admitted to the designated Covid wards of the hospital during the time, raising total patients to 190, including 92 tested positive, against 513 beds.
Another 17 patients are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. Twenty-nine other patients returned home from the Covid-19 unit after being cured during the time.
Yazdani said the infection rate has decreased in Rajshahi to some extent compared to the previous day.
A total of 60 people have been detected positive for Covid-19 after testing 357 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Wednesday, showing 16.81 percent positivity rate against 17.74 percent on Tuesday.
Brig Yazdani said the number of deaths caused by Covid-19 along with its patients and patients with symptoms has decreased.
Besides, the number of admitted patients and the tested positive has also declined. As a result of this, the number of designated wards and beds in the hospital were decreased, he added.
