Pori Moni sent to jail in Narcotics case

A Dhaka Court has ordered to send Dhallywood actress Shamsunnahar Smrity alias Pori Moni to jail in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

As she was produced before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Saturday, Inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Golam Mostafa, investigating officer of the case, requested to keep her in jail till the investigation of the case is completed.

After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam ordered her to be sent to jail.

Earlier on Thursday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam granted a one-day remand of Pori Moni.

Pori Moni and her accomplice Dipu were produced in court on August 13 after a six-day remand. Golam Mostafa then requested to keep them in jail till the investigation of the case is completed.

After the hearing, the court denied bail plea and ordered them sent to jail. Then, Pori Moni was taken to  Kashimpur Central Women's Jail in Gazipur.

Based on specific information on August 4, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the Dhallywood actress Pori Moni from her Banani’s residence in a raid.

During the drive, large quantities of alcohol, drugs, LCD and ICE were recovered from the scene.

Later, RAB filed a case against Pori Moni and her accomplice Dipu under the Narcotics Control Act at the Banani Police Station in the capital.
