A young man has been beaten to death in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram district.
Deceased Faridul, 30, was the son of freedom fighter Shamsul Alam, a resident of Bangasonahat Union Parishad under the upazila.
Bhurungamari Police Station officer in-charge Alamgir Hossain said three brothers - Saifur, Sohel Rana and Royal Rana - residents of Bridgegar area under Paikerchhara Union in the upazila allegedly beat up Faridul in Sonahat Bridge area on Thursday evening, leaving him unconscious.
Being informed, police rescued him and took to Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex.
Later, he was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital after his condition deteriorated but he died at around 1:30am.
It could not be confirmed yet why Faridul was beaten, the police official said, adding that Saifur, 38, Sohel Rana, 35, and Royal Rana were detained over the incident.
