The government has scrapped the order on increasing 60 percent fare for the river route passengers, which was issued on April 1 last on condition of carrying 50 percent passengers of water transports’ capacities aiming at stemming the coronavirus infection.
“The effectiveness of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority’s (BIWTA) order issued on April 1 increasing the fare by 60 percent on condition of carrying 50 percent passengers of the water transports’ capacities through the inland waterways during the coronavirus situation has been cancelled,” said a BIWTA press release on Tuesday.
BIWTA order issued on April 23, 2013 regarding inland waterways passenger fares will be effective again from tomorrow (Wednesday), it said.
