Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association has suspended actress Pori Moni's membership at the body following her arrest in a drug case.
The association president and actor Misha Sawdagar made the disclosure in a press conference arranged at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation on Saturday.
"The incident of Pori Moni has damaged the image of the film artists and it is embarrassing for our film society. We don't allow any wrongdoing," Misha said.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the association and all members' opinions were taken there, he added.
The association's general secretary Zayed Khan, vice president Dipjol, and Rubel, among others, were present at the press conference.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Rapid Action Battalion had conducted a drive at the home of actress Pori Moni at Banani in the capital and detained her.
The law enforcers said they also recovered a huge amount of narcotics from her residence.
At that time, RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Khandaker Al Moin said they conducted the raid based on some specific allegations against her.
In mid-June, the actress made headlines accusing a businessman of taking a rape and murder attempt on her at Dhaka Boat Club in Savar on the outskirt of Dhaka.
Amid this, she faced allegations of vandalisms at a few clubs.
