The Digital Security Act case filed against businesswoman Helena Jahangir, who has recently been removed from a subcommittee of Awami League, has been transferred to the Detective Branch of police.
AKM Hafiz Akter, the chief additional commissioner of DB, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Sunday night.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury on Friday placed the businesswoman on a three-day remand in the case.
Earlier on Thursday night, the Rapid Action Battalion raided her residence at Gulshan and detained her.
RAB said it also recovered foreign wine, illegal walkie-talkie, knives, foreign currencies, casino materials, and deer hide from her possession during the drive.
Helena Jahangir is a director of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI), and owner of 'Joyjatra Television'.
She was a member of the Awami League’s subcommittee on women’s affairs but the body has recently removed her from the post after her name came up on social media as the president of ‘Bangladesh Awami Chakrijibi League’ that is not approved by the party.
