Singer Fakir Alamgir hospitalized

Noted folk and pop singer Fakir Alamgir was admitted to a hospital in the capital on Thursday night following he had contracted coronavirus.

Confirming the matter, his wife Suraiya Alamgir on Friday said he is now at United Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Ekushey Padak was born on February 21, 1950. After the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971,  he emerged as a Gono Sangeet (inspiration songs for the masses) singer. 

Some of the Ekushey Padak awardee's notable songs are "O Sokhina Gesos Kina Bhuila Amare," "Shantahar," "Nelson Mandela," "Naam Tar Chhilo John Henry," and "Banglar Comrade Bondhu."
