Alhaj Abu Taher Babu, the father of online news portal Jago News's Rangpur correspondent Zahangir Kabir Zitu, died at a hospital in the city on Tuesday afternoon. He aged 66.
He breathed his last around 1pm while undergoing treatment at Rangpur Community Medical College Hospital.
Family members said Abu Taher was admitted to the hospital on June 29 after he had suffered a brain stroke.
Later, he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as his physical condition deteriorated and on July 6 put him on life support.
Jago News acting editor Ziaul Haque sought pardon for his departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
