10 to die in Rangpur double murder case

A Rangpur court on Thursday sentenced ten people to death for killing two people at Taraganj upazila in Rangpur.According to the prosecution, two people were killed following an attack by a gang of robbers on a rice-laden truck on Borati Bridge in Teromile area of Taraganj on 26 March, 2006.The deceased are truck driver, Paresh Chandra, and his associate, Monoronjon.Haran Chandra Ghosh, owner of the truck, filed a case in this connection.Police submitted charge against 11 persons in the case. Three among ten convicted were present during the verdict, rest of them are absconding.After examining witnesses and record Rangpur District and Sessions Judge Abu Zafar M Quamruzzaman found them guilty and pronounced the verdict.
