A farmer has been beaten to death allegedly by rivals over a trivial matter in Sadar upazila of Sherpur district.
Deceased Nazirul Islam Bodon was the son of late Chinu Sheikh, a resident of Haora village in the upazila.
Police and local sources said Bodon had been loggerheads with neighbour Jamshed Ali over the boundary wall. As a sequel to, people from both sides locked into an altercation around 8:15am over leaving cow dung, leaving Bodon critically injured.
He, later, died on the way to Sherpur Sadar Hospital, according to the sources.
Sadar Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Mansur Ahmed said police detained nine people for their alleged involvement with the incident.
