Two minor boys drowned in Chandina upazila of Cumilla district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were Md Yasin, 6, son of Md Monir Hossain of Kutumbapur village, and his maternal cousin Nirab, 6, son of late Nurul Islam of Naotala village in the upazila.
Chandina Police Station officer in-charge Samsuddin Mohammad Ilyas confirmed the incident.
Quoting locals, he said the children were found floating in a pond adjacent to Kutumbapur Purbapara Wadud Muhuri Bari, and rushed to Modina Medical Hospital, Kutumbapur where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.
The hospital doctor Mohiuddin said the minors had died before they were brought to the facility.
