A man has been detained for allegedly attempting to abduct his wife in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district.
Detained Abdul Malek, 27, hails from Baghadanga village in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah district.
Malek was caught by local people near Bamondi Bazaar on Thursday afternoon when he along with four to five people tried to pick his wife, an NGO worker, on a microbus. Later, Malek, and his wife were handed over to police, the locals said.
The woman claimed that his husband and his companions attempted to kidnap her, and they would often threaten to kill her.
Malek, however, claimed they, husband and wife, had been in a conflict for several months, and today he tried to take her to him.
Gangni Police Station officer in-charge Bazlur Rahman told Jago News that police will look into the family conflict and take legal action against the man if his wife files a complaint against him.
