A Chittagong Court on Tuesday convicted and sentenced two people to lifetime imprisonment for killing an expatriate’s wife in 2012.They also fined Tk 10,000 each.The convicts are Shahidul Islam alis Elias and Abdul Hannan where three others were tried in absentia.According to the prosecution, Khatija Begum, wife of an expatriate was hacked to death with sharp weapons by construction workers for greed money on 17 February 2012.The following day, Md. Yunus, brother of Khatija filed a case against Shahidul Islam, Abdul Hannan, Kalu, Khokon and Nishan.After examining all witnesses and records Speedy Trail Tribunal Judge Kazi Mohitul Haq Enam Chowdhury pronounced the verdict.
