Those involved with sabotage were arrested, not Alem-Olama: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said arrests were not made targeting any Alem-Olama or political party, rather those involved with arson attacks, sabotage and terrorism have been arrested after scrutinizing video footages.

“Law enforcement agencies arrested those involved with arson attacks and terrorism on specific charges after scrutinizing video footages. Arrest was not made targeting any Alem-Olama or even BNP leaders. There is no scope to create imaginary story over the incident,” he said.

Quader, also Awami League General Secretary, was addressing a view-exchange with officials of BRTC and BRTA, Chattogram Zone on virtual platform from his official residence in Dhaka.

He said it is now clear like broad daylight that BNP is making their evil attempts to create imaginary, fabricated stories through their comments and statements over the mayhem carried out in Dhaka, Hathazari, Chattogram and Brahmanbaria to save the terrorists.

The minister said the way of going to power riding on the path of conspiracy by launching incidents like August 15, November 3 and so-called November 7 and August 21 has been over.

“Now there is no alternative to election in going to power. So, they (BNP) will have to wait for the next election,” he said.

Turning to vaccination for Covid-19, Quader urged all to keep trust in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and hoped that under the premier’s efficient and humanitarian leadership, Bangladesh will be able to procure vaccines for second dose in due time as like as the first one.

There is no lack of sincerity of the government in collecting vaccines, he said.

He said those, who are spreading misleading information over vaccines, actually want Bangladesh would not get vaccines.

They are skilled in making statements against the interest of the country and the people and it has already been proved, he added.

The minister said the root of Sheikh Hasina’s government is very deep in this soil as the people have trust and confidence in the government.

BNP’s failure in different movements and elections in the last one era has proven that the party is now isolated from people, he said, adding that actually the root of BNP’s politics is not in the soil of Bangladesh rather in somewhere else.

He said when the developed nations reel under the coronavirus pandemic, everyone should give much attention on maintaining health guidelines instead of spreading misleading information over vaccines, ICU and oxygen.

Those, who are thinking that getting vaccinated develops antibodies and then there is no need to wear mask or maintain health guidelines, are living in fool’s paradise, he mentioned.

He urged all irrespective of opinions and party affiliations to put much attention on maintaining health guidelines and build forts of consciousness at houses instead of making criticism.

The minister urged the concerned authorities to begin works as soon as possible to upgrade Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar road to four-lane highway.

He also gave directives to put emphasis on roads of Chattogram Hill Tracts.
