Mawlana Muhammadullah Jami, the central executive member of Hefazat-e-Islam, and central joint secretary general of Jamiat-e Ulama-e Islam, has been arrested in a case filed over the violence in Kishoreganj.
Police nabbed him from the East Tarapasha area in the district town on Tuesday afternoon, said Kishoreganj Model Police Station officer-in-charge Md Abu Bakr Siddique.
Kishoreganj district Chhatra League president Anwar Hossain Khan Molla lodged a case on April 1 over the violence in different parts of the district, including attack, vandalizm, and arson attack on Awami League office, on the day of March 30 hartal enforced by Hefazat-e-Islam, police said.
Mawlana is one of the accused in the case, according to police.
