Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Allama Khalid Saifullah Aiyubi, Joint Secretary General of Hefazat-e-islam, from his hometown in Manikganj early Thursday.
RAB’s Law and Mass Media wing Director Khandakar Al Moyeen confirmed the arrest to Jago News.
He said, a sabotage case was filed against him with Paltan Police Station during the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bangladesh visit recently.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Detectives arrested Hefazat’s Assistant Secretary General and Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish’s Nayebe Ameer at Mohammadpur in the capital. Hefazat leader and also Khelafat Majlish General Secretary Mufti Sharafat Hossain was also arrested on the day.
On Tuesday midnight, RAB arrested Mawlana Ataullah Amin, Hefazat’s Assistant Secretary General and Khelafat Majlish’s Joint Secretary General at Mohammadpur in the capital. He was accused in a sabotage case filed with Paltan Police Station.
