The coronavirus deaths tally surpassed 10,000 in Bangladesh on Thursday as the government reported 94 more fatalities in the last 24 hours.
So far, the total number of deaths stood at 10,081, the health directorate said in a press release today.
As many as 4,192 more people contracted the virus in the past day, bringing the total cases to 7,07,362.
Of the total patients, 5,92,214 recovered, with 5,915 made recovery in the last 24 hours.
The daily count came from test of 19,959 samples in the past day.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8 last year. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.
Till date, the epidemic infected 138,972,036 people and killed 2,988,743 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 113,760,318 across the world.
