The government has asked the authorities to ensure banking services for special purposes during the eight-day lockdown begins from Wednesday.
The Cabinet Division sent a letter to the governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Tuesday asking him to issue directives in this regard.
After receiving the letter, the central bank this evening issued a notice in line with the government instruction and sent it to the CEOs of all scheduled banks.
The notice said the banks will stay open for transaction from 10am to 1pm on the working days.
The government on Monday ordered a strict lockdown for eight days from April 14 to 21 in a bid to limit the coronavirus spread following a relaxed lockdown from April 5 to 13.
During this lockdown, the public and private offices, and public transports services will remain closed but the factories open.
During the earlier lockdown, the public and private offices were open on a limited scale, and public transports operated from 6am to 6pm, as well as there were limited banking services.
