Coronavirus: Govt reports 58 more deaths

Bangladesh government reported 58 more COVID-19 deaths and 5,683 new cases in the last 24 hours.

With this, the country's total infections and fatalities reached respectively 6,30,277 and 9,213, the health directorate said in a press release on Saturday.

Of the total patients, 5,49,775 recovered, with 2,364 made recovery in the last 24 hours.

The daily count came from test of 24,548 samples in the past day. With this, a total of 46,43,645 samples have, so far, been tested.

Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8 last year. Since then it has been struggling to curb spread of the highly contagious virus.

Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then its outbreak was seen across the world.

However, the epidemic infected 130,942,125 people and killed 2,852,898 across the globe till date, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles coronavirus cases and deaths. 

Total number of people who recovered from the deadly virus reached 105,422,874 across the world.
