Bangladesh government reported 45 more COVID-19 deaths and 5,042 new cases in the last 24 hours.
With this, the country's total infections and fatalities reached respectively 6,05,937 and 8,994, the health directorate said in a press release on Tuesday.
Of the total patients, 5,40,180 recovered, with 2,162 made recovery in the last 24 hours.
The daily count came from test of 26,620 samples in the past day. With this, a total of 46,43,645 samples have, so far, been tested.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then it has been struggling to curb spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then its outbreak was seen across the world
However, the epidemic infected 128,313,144 people and killed 2,805,973 across the globe till date, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles coronavirus cases and deaths.
Total number of people who recovered from the deadly virus reached 103,523,385 across the world.
