Three separate cases have been filed over the Friday's vandalizms and arson attacks in Brahmanbaria district town during the protest programmes against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh.
Sadar Model Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman filed two cases, and SI Mosleh Uddin of the police station lodged another. In the lawsuits, as many as 6500 people were accused.
Mozammel Hossain Reza, additional superintendent of police (Sadar circle), confirmed the matter to Jago News around 3:30pm on Saturday.
Earlier on Friday afternoon, the students of Jamia Islamia Yunusia Madrasa, and Bhadughar Sirazul Ulum Madrasa took position in different places of the district town and staged demonstration protesting the arrival of Indian premier Modi.
Around 4pm, they allegedly carried out vandalizms and arson attacks on Brahmanbaria Railway Station. Around 5pm, they attacked the railway station police outpost, causing a seven-hour suspension of train communication on the Dhaka-Sylhet route.
Besides, they also allegedly vandalized and torched the offices of SP, Fisheries officer, civil surgeon, and Dak Bungalow of the district council.
At least 15 people, including Sadar Police Station's 2 no. outpost inspector Noor-e-Alam, received injuries in the incidents. Among them, critically injured Noor-e-Alam was sent to Dhaka for better treatment.
