Bangladesh government reported 3,737 more coronavirus cases and 33 fresh deaths from the virus in the last 24 hours.
With this, the country's total infections and fatalities reached respectively 5,88,132 and 8,830, the health directorate said in a press release on Friday.
Of the total patients, 5,31,951 recovered, with 2,057 made recovery in the last 24 hours.
The daily count came from test of 27,299 samples in the past day.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then it has been struggling to curb spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then its outbreak was seen across the world
However, the epidemic infected 126,180,069 people and killed 2,769,326 across the globe till date, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles coronavirus cases and deaths.
Total number of people who recovered from the deadly virus reached 101,802,853 across the world.
