The government has decided to open all the educational institutions of the secondary and higher secondary levels on May 23.
The decision was taken after consulting with the national technical advisory committee on COVID-19, a handout of the Education Ministry said on Thursday.
The handout said a decision has been taken to reopen all the educational institutions of the secondary and higher secondary levels on May 23.
The health protection and overall safety of the students, teachers, employees and guardians have been considered to take the decision as an upward trend was seen in coronavirus infections, it said.
Earlier, the government decided to open the educational institutions on March 30 but it revised the decision.
The government had ordered all educational institutions to close on March 17 last year following an outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country.
Since then, the shutdown has been extended on several occasions, and most recently it has been extened until March 30.
