Members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) have arrested the main accused in a case filed over the attack on Hindu community at Shalla upazila in Sunamganj.
Shahidul Islam alias Sadhin Member, local ward Juba League president and union parishad member, was arrested from Kulaura in Moulvibazar on Friday night.
Muhammad Khaled-uz-Zaman, Superintendent of Police of PBI, Sylhet confirmed the arrest to Jago News.
To be noted, 87 houses of Hindu community were vandalized and looted over a facebook post about Hefajat-e-Islam Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque on Wednesday.
On Thursday night, Habibpur union parishad chairman Bibekananda Majumder Bakul filed a case mentioning Shahidul Islam as a first accused.
