Pragatisheel Chhatra Jote has called for protests and resistance against the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh's Independence.
The platform of the leftist student groups made the call in a press conference organized at Dhaka University (DU) Madhur Cantine on Thursday.
It also declared anti-Modi rally and procession at the foot of Raju Sculpture on the DU premises at 3pm on Friday and a torch procession on March 25.
Mentioning that inviting Modi is contrary to the spirit of the Liberation War, Bangladesh Chhatra Union president Foyez Ullah said protesting against the visit of Modi is a just right.
"We unequivocally want to say that protesting against the arrival of Modi is our legitimate right. Rather, inviting India's communal Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Independence is contrary to the spirit of the Liberation War," he said.
He said Modi is responsible for Gujarat riot which claimed many lives.
The Modi-led Indian government made an arrangement to push a few lakhs of people Bengalis into Bangladesh from India's Assam and West Bengal states by adopting an anti-humanity citizenship law, he said.
The student leader added Modi is repressing the movement by Indian farmers in a fascist way.
He also said Bangladeshi people are often killed by the Border Security Force of India on border; Bangladesh did not get equitable portion of Teesta River water yet, and its everything, including rivers, ports and Sundarbans, are the victims of Indian agression. "Despite this, our country's government always terms India a friend," he added.
"So, we cannot allow participation of riotous and communal instigator Modi in the celebration of Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh's Independence," he said.
The leaders and activists of Biplobi Chhatra Maitri, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Chhatra Federation, Biplobi Chhatra-Juba Andolan, and Pahari Chhatra Parishad attended the press conference.
