The High Court has granted bail to Irfan Selim, son of Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Selim and suspended councillor of Ward no. 30 of Dhaka South City Corporation, in the case filed over assaulting and attempted murder of a naval officer.
A HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossen Selim and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order on Thursday.
Now, there is no legal bar to release Irfan, said his lawyer advocate Saeed Ahmed Raza.
Navy Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan filed a case on October 26 last year against Irfan and his associates for assaulting him at the Kalabagan crossing in the capital.
He was jailed for six months for carrying walkie-talkies and one year for liquor consumption and possessing drugs by a RAB mobile court.
