Sylhet-3 MP Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury has tested positive for coronavirus after he had received his first dose of the vaccine a month ago.
Now he is undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital, the lawmaker's personal secretary Zulhas Ahmed confirmed this on Wednesday afternoon.
"He (Samad Us Chowdhury) was admitted at United Hospital on Sunday, and on the following morning he gave sample for coronavirus test," Zulhas said, adding that the test came out positive on that afternoon.
Earlier on February 10, MP Samad received his first dose of coronavirus vaccine at Jatiya Sangshad premises.
Bangladesh on January 27 began coronavirus vaccination programme, and launched the same nationwide on February 7.
The country, however, recorded 5,53,105 coronavirus cases and 8,496 deaths from the virus till today since it first reported COVID-19 cases on March 8, 2020.
