JCD men clash with cops at Nat’l Press Club, 35 injured

A group of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders and activists today clashed with cops in front of the National Press Club.

At least 35 people including cops and journalists were injured in the incident. They were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

The clash took place when a group of JCD men started their demonstration programme in the area around 11am.

According to the source, JCD started their programme without the permission of police. They were seen vandalizing some motorcycles and buildings in the area. At one stage, they hurled brick chips at police. In reply, police opened tear shells to disperse them. At that time, 35 people were injured. Later, police took the situation under control around 11:30.

However, BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was expected to attend the JCD programme.
