Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men today chased BNP lawmaker Golam Mohammad Siraj in Bagura.
The incident took place when the lawmaker along with some leaders and activists was returning after placing wreath at Shaheed Minar around 9am.
Terming him as a Rajakar, BCL men chanted slogan and chased him in the area. Later, Siraj entered the police outpost near the Shaheed Minar to escape from them and police also closed the gate quickly. After some time, BCL men left the area and police reached the lawmaker and his supporters to their party office.
However, additional police were deployed at BNP’s local party office to control untoward situation.
In this connection, Khorshed Alam, Sub Inspector of Bagura sadar police outpost, said they reached the lawmaker and his supporters to the party office safely. The situation is now normal in the area.
