A person was killed and some others were injured in a clash between two councilor aspirants at Patia in Chattogram on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Mabud, elder brother of 8 No. councilor candidate Abdul Mannan.
The incident took place during the municipality polls at Dakkhin Gobinda Khil polling centre of 8 No. ward around 12pm.
Additional forces of police RAB and BGB were deployed in the area to control untoward situation.
According to the witnesses, a clash was ensued between the supporters of the two councilors. At one stage, Mabud was shot dead by the opponent. Later, the supporters of Mannan set fire on Ansar VDP camp.
Confirming the matter, Minhaz, Inspector (investigation) of Patia Police Station, said a person was injured after a receiving a bullet outside of the Dakkhin Gobinda polling centre. The injured man was sent to Patia Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctor declared him dead.
