Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday paid honors to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, father of the nation on the occasion of the 67th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League.She paid the homage by placing a floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city.After laying the wreath, the Prime Minister stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of independence.Flanked by senior leaders of the party, Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, placed another wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of her party.Awami League Advisory Council members Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed and Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Obaidul Quader, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Advocate Sahara Khatun and Satish Chandra Roy and Joint Secretaries Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif, Dr Dipu Moni and Jahangir Kabir Nanak and other central leaders of the party were present on the occasion.Later, Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the 67th founding anniversary programmes of Bangladesh Awami League by hoisting national flag as well as releasing pigeons and balloons while AL Presidium Member Begum Matia Chowdhury raised the party flag.The national anthem was sung on the occasion.
