Twenty lakh doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine to be sent by India as a gift will arrive in Bangladesh on Thursday afternoon.
A special Air India flight carrying the consignment of free vaccine doses will land in Dhaka at 1.30pm.
Health Division Secretary Md Abdul Mannan told journalists after a meeting presided by Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary on Wednesday.
He said, Health Minister Zahid Malique will receive the vaccine. Indian High Commissioner and high-up officials will present during the time.
“The vaccines will be stored in the EPI storage in Tejgaon,” he added.
It is mentionable that, Bangladesh bought 30 million doses of coronavirus vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca from Serum Institute of India. The first batch of imported doses - five million - is expected to arrive in Dhaka by Jan 25.
