First batch of coronavirus vaccine to reach on Jan 25-26

The first consignment of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid vaccine, produced by Serum Institute of India, will arrive in the country on January 25 or 26, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said today. 

He said this while speaking at meet the press programme held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

He said, the vaccination programme will start after one week of reaching the vaccine in the country. Around 300 vaccine centres have been installed in Dhaka. Apart from, 42,000 people have been given training in this regard. 

“The second wave of coronavirus has been brought under control,” the minister said. 

He also said, the World Health Organization (WHO) has sent a letter thanking Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she takes coronavirus under control.
